My Sad Christmas Song - Miley Cyrus

Not everyone's Christmas is a Merry one, this year.
Maybe you've lost a loved one, a failed relationship or you're just a grinch.

For the people who are celebrating this holiday season with their loved ones, this song will probably be another ludicrous or depressing song by Miley.

But there's more to this song. You can actually feel her solitude and sadness through her straightforward lyrics. Miley has had a rough year, for the fact she lost her dog 'Floyd' and in my opinion hasn't gotten over her ex Liam Hemsworth.

So for all the folks out there who'd given their heart last Christmas to someone special and had an achy breaky heart in return, can sing along to the lyrics of "My Sad Christmas Song".

This is my sad Christmas song
I've had it stuck in my head all day long
I wrote it on the car on my ride home
Cause I knew I'd walk in the door and I'd be alone
Why'd I even put up that fuckin' tree?
If there's no one here that's gonna see
Just how pretty she looks on Christmas Eve
Cause there's no one here next to me

This is my sad Christmas song
So I light another bong
I turn on the radio
I binge watch our favorite shows
This year feels kinda lame
But the last one was the same
But the holiday spirit they say
Is taking off on a plane
This is my sad Christmas song
Fa La La La La

I always thought that Santa was kinda cute
There's something about his beard, bug belly and boots
I left Santa more than cookies this year
I thought he might appreciate a few beers
That's why I'm always on the naughty list
He said cause when I get drunk, I'm always showing my tits
He leaned in for a kiss and he got real near
I had to stop Santa and say " My true love ain't here"

This is my sad Christmas song
So I rip another bong
I've  never been good at making plans
Next year, I'm gonna be with my man
My little sister says I'm the Grinch
But my mom thinks I'm just a bitch
Why  did you have to go?
We were under the mistletoe
This is my sad Christmas song.

Missing you on fuckin' Christmas, why did you have to go?
Wishing you a Merry Christmas, know I miss you so.

Hollow Humans

Hollow humans, hollow humans everywhere,
Distorting reality
Butchering humanity
Do you see yourself there?

Hollow humans, hollow humans everywhere,
Shallow minds
Cold hearts
Do you even care?

Hollow humans, hollow humans everywhere,
Monochrome monotony
Atomic reactivity
Do you live in despair?

Hollow humans, hollow humans everywhere,
21st Century
31st Century
We're all mortal anyway.

- Nikita Fernandes.

Whole

A coffin and ten reeds,
Remorse and tears that she doesn't need.

Grey clouds and cold rain,
All their memories are now down the drain.

Vain, Vain, Vain,
No one felt her pain.

Her numb body, her fragile soul,
With the Divine, she is now whole.

Muse: Marilyn Monroe.

Cigarettes After Sex

I am ever grateful to Youtube , for helping me find this band.

It's like I've found food for my longing soul.
Just putting on the earphones and listening to the singer's euphonious voice is like being all alone in your bedroom; staring at the ceiling and contemplating on all the good things in life- Past-Present-Future. It just encompasses everything.

There is something about his voice, something enchanting and captivating. I do not know how I could do justice to describe it, just one word : LOVE.
The bass; the drums ; the keyboard, everything- just everything in sync is paradise.

There isn't much about this band online, except for their bandcamp and facebook profile.
So here's some of the information:

Cigarettes After Sex is a New York based band, Brooklyn to be precise.
Members include:
Greg Gonzalez - Vocals / Acoustic Guitar / Electric Guitar
Phillip Tubbs - Keyboard
Randy Miller - Bass
Jake Tomsky - Drums
They have released their new single 'Affection' on the 5th of October 2015 on their bandcamp profile.
I reckon they have released four songs previously, titled:
Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby.
Dreaming Of You.
Starry Eyes.
I'm A Firefighter.

This band truly needs more recognition for their music is simply spellbinding and I can assure you that you'll fall in love with the band the minute you hear their songs, especially " Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby" and " Starry Eyes" ( My Personal Favorites)

P.S: I Love The Cover Of The Album Is Bloody Cool.
I'm just a sad soul in search for good music and I've found my medicine.
Love this band.
The kinda band I'd love to play at my wedding and funeral. Pure Bliss.
I pray that the world recognizes this band and their incredible music and they perform at Coachella & Hyde Park & Royal Albert Hall, someday.
Absolutely LOVE this band.

Love Me - The 1975

  Change is inevitable.
And change is an integral part of this vicious circle of life.
One changes not to conform to the ideologies of the society, but to that of one's own soul.

The 1975 have surely undergone a drastic and daring change with a new outlook, not only in the terms of their fashion but also their music. In todays interview with Annie Mac, Matty Healy claims that the band has evolved.

Full Interview with The 1975 - Love Me by The 1975 is Annie Mac's Hottest Record In The World.

Matty in leather pants and eye shadow with Ross George and Adam.

According to me the band has undergone metamorphosis. Only remodeling and reconstructing themselves into a much bigger and beautiful facet of a new pop culture. Another step in the life history of the band.

And at times it is very difficult for the human brain to accept and adapt to a certain change, however we ought to love them. ( maybe the reason behind releasing 'Love Me'- not in a narcissist tone, but 'love-me-if-that's-what-you-wanna-do).

'Love Me' surely has an artistic appeal to it. The guitar solo is absolutely mind blowing. It's like synth pop and art rock. More like the David Bowie pop era than the present 'so-called' pop generation.
The 1975 are surely going to redefine pop culture in the present scenario of the music industry.
An amazing start.

It's a new aesthetic.
A new culture.
It's not a revolution but an evolution for the soul.

July Favourites

July has treated me well, with my college fest's preparation going in full swing, meeting new faces and discovering new music; movies and books.

The following are my top ten songs for the month of July.
I love all the songs, only because the lyrics are like poetry in motion. Absolutely beautiful.
(I've updated the music player's playlist on this blog to the top 10 songs. Hope you guys enjoy it)

1) Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel.

Simply love the simplicity of the soothing piano and beautiful lyrics.

2) Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones.
Jagger's voice hits you right in the feels.

3) Blush - Wolf Alice.
I love the chorus, " Punch drunk ; dumb struck ; pot luck; happy happy".
There's something about this video, that makes me want to hit that replay button again and again.

4) Champagne Year - St. Vincent.
Could Annie get any more perfect?
P.S : I ship Annie and Cara.

5) Strange Mercy- St. Vincent.
(Honestly, all the songs on the album 'Strange Mercy' are remarkable)

6)Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis.
Absolutely. Love. The. Lyrics.

7) ) Ignition - R Kelly
My morning jam.
That's literally me every morning.

8) Watch Me (Whip/ Nae Nae) - Silento
If you're judging me on how my playlist stooped from indie to hip hop, well this song is so catchy. It reminds me of Soulja Boy's "Superman", but damn the dance moves!
*sings ' now watch me whip, now watch me nae nae' *

9)Your Loves Whore- Wolf Alice
Although this is not the original video for the soundtrack, there's a certain appeal to it which makes the lyrics even more meaningful. Maybe it's the vintage tone loving.

10) Forever - Jesse And The Rippers
Although the original soundtrack is by "The Beachboys", I love the "Jesse and The Rippers" version better. For those who love 'Full House', they're bringing the show back with a twist, calling it "The Fuller House". (I doubt it'll be as good as the original. As long Kimmy Gibbler's there, it's going to be a one heck of a journey.)

Movie Of The Month
God Help The Girl.
SIMPLY. LOVE. THE. MOVIE.

I'm in love with all the soundtracks from this movie. This movie revolves around three friends whose passion for music and art leads them to form a band, until there's a bit of a twist.
Absolutely love Emily Browning's voice, Olly's adorable personality and Hannah Murray's chic style.
I hope this movie turns into a classic someday.
A Must Watch.

Hope you liked it.
See you until my next post.

A Nadsat Tale - Be Young And Shut Up.

May, 1968.

While the streets were filled with anarchy and utter chaos with nadsats running haywire, with sticks and stones like a frenzy mob, I stood calmly at the crossroads. I would consider myself as a foolish little being, if I would've hopped onto that bandwagon. But my brothers, you see I am a bit different.

My thoughts are like constellations running at the speed of light. My ideas are considered weird, and my existence, the weirdest. But my brothers, I pay no attention to the words of the world.

So I walk down the road, with a haversack on my back. It contains my precious. Now my brothers, you would expect fine belongings, but sadly my haversack only contains cans, spray paint cans to be precise.

I arrive at this desolated sector, nothing much except huge white walls. Most of them chipped and cracked. But my brothers, I tell you it was the finest canvas my sight could ever behold. I spent the next few hours by myself, with the white wall and the black paint.

I drew two human figures. A tall and hefty silhouette of a man with a long pointy nose covering the mouth of a puny little teenager. Now my brothers, you wonder what it represents. You see earlier I'd introduced you to the frenzy mob, the mob my brothers are the youth, fiery and rebellious, filled with a desire for a revolution. A revolution for the liberation of arts, music and literature. You see I'm just another nadsat, an ardent lover of arts, music and literature and I too, like the others, am against this atrocity inflicted on us. But unlike my other droogs, I chose a different medium to express my resentment.

Beside the two human figures, I scribbled the following-

" Sois Jeune Et Tais Toi".

It's a revolution my brothers, not like the other famous revolutions that occurred in France, but this definitely is one of it's kind.

Welcome To The Revolution, My Brothers.

[ This write-up was a part of my English class answering the topic " I Am...". I found the 1968 revolution very interesting and would've loved to be a part of it. Also, references to words from A Clockwork Orange (An amazing, amazing, amazing book)

Cool Covers On Youtube

These are few  covers I stumbled upon, on Youtube.
Hope you like them too (:

1) Wonderwall & Stir It Up -Cover by Vincie Irie

I love the reggae twist to the song. Makes it so peppy.

2)   Read My Mind - Cover by Catfish And The Bottlemen.

Hands down, Van McCann just owned that song. The spontaneous 'Ignition' part at the end is my favourite.

3) Ignition -  Cover by James Dalby

I wasn't familiar with the song Ignition by R Kelly, until I had watched the previous cover by CATB, and loved the acoustic version performed by Van. So I looked up on Youtube, and found James Dalby's cover, and since then it's been my morning jam.

4) The Scientist -Cover by Holly Henry

I. SIMPLY. LOVE. HER. VOICE.. It's so sweet-sounding and so pleasing to the ear; that you'd play her songs on repeat. (I was utterly disappointed when she lost the battle rounds in The Voice.)

5) The Blower's Daughter - Cover by Matt McAndrew.

His voice hits you right in the feels. Period.

Melancholy, My Friend.

Trying my hand at poetry.
Muse: Sylvia Plath

Melancholy, my friend
Melancholy, my friend
Where have you been?

I only meet you when it's past eleven.
Together we sing rhapsodies of memories,
Of people, places and things we've never seen.
When dawn creeps in, you are soon forgotten.

Melancholy, my friend
Melancholy, my friend
Will I see you again?

Catfish And The Bottlemen

I've been insanely hooked onto this band called "Catfish And The Bottlemen", that I've discovered lately. They are a British quartet , with Van McCann on the lead vocals and guitar , Johnny Bond on guitar, Benji Blakeway on bass and Bob Hall on drums.

The first thing that caught my attention was the name of the band, "Catfish And The Bottlemen", which sounds quite vague. So I decided to do some research (a.k.a watching a lot of band interviews on Youtube). And in many interviews Van McCann was asked the same question :

What's with the name Catfish And The Bottlemen?

As a kid, Van spent his first two years in Australia, travelling with his mum and dad, and his first memory of music was sitting outside this cafe watching this busker perform, who had these washing lines with beer bottles hung on it, named 'Catfish And The Bottlemen' , and Van thought the name would be apt for the band.

Catfish And The Bottlemen have released their album titled " The Balcony ", last September, comprising of  11 songs.
1) Homesick
2) Kathleen
3) Cocoon
4) Fallout
5) Pacifier
6) Hourglass
7) Business
8) 26
9) Rango
10) Sidewinder
11) Tyrants

(Fallout, Kathleen, Pacifier and Cocoon are my personal favourites)

I also loved the illustration for the album cover. It's quite simple yet artistic.
In one of the interviews, Van said that it was done by an artist from New York, thus making it more American than British.

And I absolutely love their cover of " Read My Mind". The Ignition part at the end, is the best.

I hope you check this band out, and fall in love with their music.
Oh and do follow them on twitter @thebottlemen

1st June - The 1975

And The 1975 have disappeared into oblivion with this tweet on twitter:

For what I can comprehend from this cryptic post, is that it is all about a CHANGE.
The band's undergoing a transformation or  transfiguration as Matty would call it.

It's a change, maybe in terms of their ideology, style and music (hopefully not the latter, I love it the way it is for now).

The comic strip covers the fanbase's reaction, which so far has been quite accurate.

The old Matty, dressed in black, a colour symbolizing mystery, defines one as a cold, pale, intricate person. However, that's the "Old Matty".
The "New Matty" is all drenched in the colour Pink.

Pink, the universal colour to love oneself as well as others.
The colour that represents affection, warmth and compassion.
(Even Matty Healy's Twitter Account's Header And Icon Was The Colour Pink For A Long Time)

The 1975 may no longer be the dark grunge band, we all fell in love with.
Maybe it was time for them to change, change their perspective due to various events and happenings around the world that must have have influenced their new music too. (I'm a 1000% percent confident, they're releasing a new album)

Cleverly summing it up with Walt Whitman's quote from "The Open Road", The 1975 are surely upto something that is going to awe us.

All change is inevitable, and this one is undoubtedly for the best.

The 1975 Will Always Be My Most Dearest Band.

P.S: I also see an indirect jibe at NME in the picture tweeted.
(Typical Matty)

Art Fads II

Here's another exhibit of few artworks that I'd made. Hope you like it

1) Pink Floyd :

This was a birthday gift for my best friend who turned 18, this month. She is an ultra Pink Floyd fan.

2) Gerard Way :

I had made this piece last year for another dear friend of mine, who is a MCR fanatic and a proud killjoy.

3) Prince George:

Well this one too was a birthday gift for a really good friend who turned 18 and who is a Royal Aficionado. Prince George may probably end up being second on her list, when the Duchess of Cambridge delivers another adorable royal baby.( or maybe not. Prince George Is Good)

4) // M A T T Y H E A L Y //

I haven't been able to complete this art piece as of now. I kind of like it this way, unfinished and hazy. ( Although it looks like Matty is munching on his microphone)

5) Random Doodles Of Lennon And McCartney:

Boredom often gets the best of me.

6) Totem:

I had made this random totem, when Ansel Elgort released his soundtrack titled the same last year.

7) Wonderwall Bookmark:

I simply love this song.

Hope you'll liked it.
