A Change Of Heart - The 1975

Where do I even begin with?

                        II The New Creation II

Healy found himself tumbling towards a crisis, which arrived on 6 December, onstage in Boston. “There was girl stuff,” he says. “There was family stuff. There was financial stuff. There was drug stuff. I remember hearing the crowd and having an identity crisis. I thought: ‘If you want to see a show, I’ll give you a fucking show. If you’ve come to see the jester drink himself into a slumber, I’ll give it to you.’ I felt like I’d become an idea as opposed to being a person.”
-The Guardian Interview W/ The 1975.

Staying true to their roots, the video is set in a monochromatic circus. The Circus as a metaphor to Matty's life: that looks so captivating and enchanting to the patrons on the other side of the fence.

Finally this empty illuminated circus has a spectator, a woman.

Fascinated with the antics of this jester, she makes her way into this circus. She enjoys her temporary company with him, while he tries his best to entertain and amuse her with his tricks. He tries to keep her happy.

Unfortunately, being a person of fleeting character, she no longer enjoys his playful company. She soon gets tired and irritated with his monkey tricks and childish behaviour.

She wants to depart.

And when he tries to apologize and comfort her (sweetly providing her with an umbrella), that's when she decides it's the right time to exit.

Leaving Matty all alone, more sad and unhappy, in his circus , in his life.

Random Observations:

1) At 0.22 seconds of the video, you will notice the lines " La Poesie Est Dans La Rue" under the stall titled "Burger Palace". A quote that was also featured in the Robbers video.
(It is also featured at the end in the "Chocolate" video.)

2)Matty's dance moves resonate Michael Jackson's style of dancing. Matty simply adores Michael Jackson.

3)The almost exact enactment of the gun scene from "Robbers", albeit with a water gun in "A Change Of Heart"  video.

4)Despite their narrow escape and his wild behaviour as seen in the "Robbers" video, Matty's love doesn't quit on him, whereas in "A Change Of Heart", she does

5)This piece of art definitely serves as an epilogue to "Robbers", in my opinion.

Grand Affection,
